Pashinyan reaffirms Armenia's commitment to joining EU

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan says he has repeatedly reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to joining the European Union.

“We have been asked and continue to be asked whether the recently adopted legislation implies that Armenia seeks EU membership. My answer has been clear: yes, Armenia wants to join the EU,” Pashinyan told press conference on Wednesday.

He emphasized that both the Armenian government and European partners acknowledge that joining the EU is a complex and lengthy process, requiring a country to meet its standards.

Pashinyan also pointed out the growing number of Armenian citizens seeking visas at EU embassies, which has resulted in long queues and difficulties.

“We have drawn our partners’ attention to the fact that the flow of people toward the EU has increased significantly,” he noted.

Also, Pashinyan said Armenia is more likely to withdraw from the CSTO than unfreeze its membership.
