MP: Regional unblocking aims to squeeze Russia out of region

MP Tigran Abrahamyan of the opposition Pativ Unem faction stated that current discussions on regional unblocking are driven by a broader geopolitical agenda to squeeze Russia out of the South Caucasus.

In a social media post on Friday, he highlighted that the proposed "Meghri corridor" has anti-Iranian implications, supported by the U.S. and Israel.

Abrahamyan criticized the Armenian government for misrepresenting the issue, saying the debate is not merely about control over the road, but about Armenia’s sovereignty.

“While the United States is a friendly nation and Russia an ally, the core problem does not lie with external actors,” the MP stated. “It lies with the Armenian leadership’s lack of principles and its readiness to serve foreign interests.”
