Yerevan will control Syunik route, Iranian envoy says

Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani has stated that Yerevan will maintain control over the Syunik route, ensuring Armenian sovereignty and territorial integrity. 

In a televised interview on Friday, Sobhani reaffirmed Iran’s stance that any unblocking of transport links must occur under the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia.

“Yerevan will control the Syunik route. Everything will be under the sovereignty of Armenia. Our position on the unblocking of regional transport routes is clear. We’ve repeatedly announced that any unblocking must occur within the framework of Armenia’s sovereignty,” the diplomat stressed.
