Opposition MP accuses Pashinyan of misleading public

Opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan has sharply criticized Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s handling of the aftermath of the 2020 Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) war, accusing him of evading responsibility for the devastating conflict and its consequences.

“No matter how hard Pashinyan tries to escape the shadow of the 44-day war and its aftermath, his so-called constructive partner, [Azerbaijani President] Aliyev, keeps reminding him that he lost patience and made a political decision following Pashinyan’s statement 'Artsakh is Armenia, period!'” Abrahamyan wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.

The Pativ Unem faction MP argued that after Azerbaijan effectively declared the collapse of peace talks and hinted at plans to resort to force, the Armenian leadership failed to recognize the threat and respond appropriately. "It resulted in a devastating war, the loss of Artsakh and the sacrifice of thousands of lives,” he emphasized

Abrahamyan also highlighted that the 2020 war was followed by further Azerbaijani military aggression, including invasion of Armenia’s sovereign territory.

“The reckless policies of the adventurists have now brought Armenia face to face with new threats,” he said. “Meanwhile, the only thing the dictator excels at is misleading the public, portraying his self-inflicted defeats as victories.”
