Hovik Abrahamyan's house arrest lifted, lawyer says

Former Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan is no longer under house arrest. A Yerevan court has replaced the measure with administrative supervision, his lawyer Yerem Sargsyan told Sputnik Armenia on Monday.

"We will not appeal the administrative supervision in the Court of Cassation due to time constraints. Moreover, the Anti-Corruption Committee has announced the completion of the preliminary investigation. Therefore, the issue of the preventive measure will be addressed during the trial," Sargsyan explained.

Abrahamyan, who also formerly served as parliament speaker, was arrested on June 13 as part of a criminal case pursued by Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee. He faces multiple charges, including money laundering, abuse of office and illegal entrepreneurship. The court initially placed him under a two-month house arrest.
