Opposition MP: Azerbaijan may soon accuse Armenians of Artsakh blockade

Opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan warns that Azerbaijan may soon go as far as blaming Armenians themselves for the Artsakh blockade and the military operations in September 2023.

In a social media post on Friday, Abrahamyan noted that during the sham trials of Armenian prisoners in Baku, the Azerbaijani authorities have already attempted to shift blame for the 2016 and 2020 hostilities onto Armenia, including accusations of shelling civilian areas.

"The day is not far when Azerbaijan will also try to hold Armenia responsible for the Artsakh blockade and the September offensive," he warned. "On one hand, Azerbaijan is fully mobilizing its propaganda machine to promote an aggressive anti-Armenian narrative. On the other hand, the Pashinyan government remains silent, effectively allowing Baku to advance it smoothly."

“Azerbaijan, a terrorist country responsible for war crimes against Artsakh and Armenia, is positioning itself as a constructive party, portraying Armenians, who suffered huge territorial, human and strategic losses, as the aggressor amid the Armenian leadership’s tacit approval,” Abrahamyan stated.
