Armenian student wins silver at 21st International Geography Olympiad

Sati Hayrapetyan, a student from Armenia’s Quantum College, earned a silver medal at the 21st International Geography Olympiad held in Bangkok, Thailand, from July 26 to August 1.

The Olympiad brought together 179 students from 47 countries, with each country represented by up to four participants, the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports reported.

Armenia’s national team included 12th-grade students Sati Hayrapetyan, Nare Poghosyan and Hayk Antonyan from Quantum College and Vahagn Aloyan from Ayb School.

The team was led by Vardan Asatryan (National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, Quantum College) and Gor Aleksanyan (Yerevan State University).

The Geography Olympiad was held in three rounds. The first day featured theoretical tasks, the second day included fieldwork exercises divided into two sub-sections and the third day focused on two multimedia-based tasks.
