Wildfires persist in occupied Artsakh

Wildfires continue to rage in Azerbaijani-occupied Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). According to Azerbaijani media reports, the country’s Ministry of Emergency Situations is attempting to contain fires in the Martakert, Martuni and other districts despite strong winds complicating the efforts.

Major fires also broke out near Akna (Aghdam) and Martakert in late July, spreading through forests and pastures. At the time, Artsakh’s Ministry of Culture warned that nearly 100 monuments in the affected areas were at risk.
