Serzh Sargsyan: ‘There are always opportunities’ to put Artsakh back on the agenda

Armenia’s third president, Serzh Sargsyan, believes “there are always opportunities” to put the Artsakh issue back on the political agenda, even after Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s recognition of Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan.

Speaking to reporters ahead of a court hearing in his trial on Tuesday, Sargsyan noted that he had already shared his principal views on Artsakh in his message marking the anniversary of Artsakh’s Independence Day.

When asked to compare Armenia today with the country in previous years, particularly in light of Pashinyan’s statement that Armenia once survived thanks to the support of other countries, but now exists due to the strength of its own citizens, Sargsyan responded with a rhetorical question: “Don’t you see the difference?”
