Armenian parliament debates ratification of ILO Violence and Harassment Convention

An Armenian parliamentary committee on Thursday debated he ratification of the International Labor Organization’s (ILO) Convention No. 190 on Violence and Harassment in the World of Work.

Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ruben Sargsyan presented the draft, noting that 50 countries have already ratified the treaty. The convention protects all workers, including trainees, interns, job seekers and volunteers, in both public and private sectors, and obliges states to prevent and eliminate workplace violence and harassment.

Ratification is expected to strengthen workplace safety, align Armenia with international labor standards, protect vulnerable groups, reduce economic losses caused by harassment, and promote gender equality and social dialogue. Officials stressed that the move is also in line with Armenia’s government programs on labor rights and the new employment strategy for 2025–2031.
