Yeghishe Melikyan, the head coach of Armenia’s national football team, has acknowledged the challenge of facing Portugal but expressed confidence in his team’s preparedness.
“It will be difficult for us as we’re up against a very strong opponent,” Melikyan told reporters at a pre-match press conference on Friday.
He stressed, however, that Armenia has a clear strategy in place.
“We’ve our plan. They do have weaknesses – few, but they exist. We’ll try to exploit them while working to neutralize their strengths,” the coach said.
Armenia will host Portugal at Yerevan’s Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium on September 6, with kickoff scheduled for 20:00 local time.
