Pashinyan's aircraft uses Azerbaijani airspace for foreign trip

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s aircraft flied through Azerbaijani airspace on August 30 for a foreign trip and returned to Armenia in the early hours of September 6, his spokesperson Nazeli Baghdasaryan reported.

“Following the Washington agreement on peace reached on August 8, the relevant Armenian authorities requested permission from Azerbaijan for the prime minister’s aircraft to cross Azerbaijani airspace. A positive response was granted,” Baghdasaryan said in a statement on Saturday.

She described the move as “a practical step toward unblocking regional communications, advancing the peace agenda and fostering an atmosphere of mutual trust.”

The spokesperson also recalled that Azerbaijani aircraft have long used Armenian airspace to maintain connections between Azerbaijan’s mainland and the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic.
