Opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan has again denounced what he described as baseless charges against fellow MP Artur Sargsyan and his “unlawful detention” ahead of the start of the Armenian parliament’s autumn session.
“This is yet another manifestation of political repression and persecution,” he wrote on Facebook on Monday.
“Whatever they say, fabricate or distort, the truth remains unchanged. Artur Sargsyan is a political prisoner, unlawfully deprived of his freedom. Freedom to Artur and all other political prisoners!” Abrahamyan added.
Artur Sargsyan was detained in August on charges of plotting a terrorist attack and violent seizure of power in Armenia strongly rejected by him as politically motivated.
