Armenia’s economy could surpass earlier growth forecasts of 4.9%-5.3% for 2025, Central Bank Governor Martin Galstyan says.
Addressing the parliament on Tuesday, he noted that while economic activity has broadly tracked its long-term growth potential this year, recent months show signs of acceleration, driven mainly by IT, tourism and finance. Construction has also been a major contributor. Still, Galstyan cautioned that short-term fluctuations and uncertainties around domestic demand could affect the sustainability of growth.
Speaking about inflation, Galstyan said annual consumer price growth stood at 3.6% in August, largely due to seasonal food prices and other volatile components. He added that non-food imports continue to reflect global disinflationary pressures, especially falling producer prices in China, while regulated service tariffs, including transport, have risen in line with expectations.
Armenia's 12-month inflation is projected to hover around 3% in 2025.
