Gyumri mayor's son arrested on extortion charges

The son of Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan, Spartak Ghukasyan, has been taken into custody.

The Investigative Committee of Armenia confirmed the arrest to Panorama.am on Thursday.

“As part of a preliminary investigation, the Shirak Regional Investigation Department has charged an individual under Article 258 (Part 1, Point 4) of the Criminal Code (extortion through coercion). The suspect has been placed under arrest,” it said.

The investigation is underway.
