RPA focused on impeachment, not elections, MP says

The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) is not currently considering participation in the 2026 parliamentary elections, as its efforts are focused on impeachment proceedings against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, opposition MP Hayk Mamijanyan said on Monday.

Mamijanyan, who heads the Pativ Unem faction that includes the RPA, expressed hope that the initiative would gain backing from other opposition lawmakers.

“Elections will happen sooner or later, but until then Pashinyan may take irreversible steps,” he warned at a press briefing.

Commenting on the purpose of holding parliamentary hearings on the impeachment process, Mamijanyan said it was meant to explore practical solutions.

“We expect to hear proposals and options that could make a change of power in Armenia practically achievable,” he said.
