Activist: Impeachment process against Pashinyan enters new phase

The initiative to launch impeachment proceedings against Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has entered a new phase, political activist Edgar Ghazaryan said on Tuesday.

In a social media post, Ghazaryan referred to a statement by the opposition Pativ Unem parliamentary faction, which formally initiated the process. Its leader Hayk Mamijanyan previously announced plans to convene parliamentary hearings in September to debate the impeachment resolution.

Ghazaryan stressed the need for unity among political forces to advance the initiative. He highlighted that support in the National Assembly remains limited. Out of 107 lawmakers, 99 are currently unwilling to back a no-confidence motion against Pashinyan, including 69 from the ruling Civil Contract party, 28 from the opposition Hayastan bloc and two independent MPs.

“We hope this balance will shift in the coming days,” Ghazaryan said.
