Large amount of drugs seized in Armenia's Syunik

Police have detained a 52-year-old resident of Sisian, Syunik Province, after discovering a large quantity of narcotics. Acting on intelligence, officers from the Yerevan Police Department’s anti-drug division, together with Sisian community police, stopped the man’s Nissan vehicle and took it to a secured lot, the police reported on Wednesday.

During a personal search, officers found 28 psychotropic pills. A subsequent search of his home uncovered a glass container with a substance resembling opium. The following day, investigators searched his car and discovered a polyethylene bag containing more than 350 grams of opium-like substance.

A criminal case has been launched by the Sisian Investigation Division and further investigative and operational measures are underway.
