Artak Zakaryan: A country cannot afford a leader like Pashinyan in today's world

Artak Zakaryan, a senior member of the Republican Party of Armenia, strongly criticized both the Armenian government and the international community’s response to the Nagorno-Karabakh crisis on the second anniversary of Azerbaijan’s offensive against Artsakh and its seizure on September 19.

In a social media post, he asked what would happen if Kosovo, Donbas, Abkhazia or Scotland endured nine months of blockade, starvation and then a large-scale attack from a stronger neighbor while being led by a government as weak as Armenia’s current leadership.

Zakaryan condemned what he called international double standards, pointing out that Gaza receives regular aid and global attention, while Artsakh faced blockade, hunger, military aggression and displacement without sanctions or meaningful UN action against Azerbaijan.

Calling Armenia's leadership "incompetent and treacherous", he also questioned the moral integrity of those countries that pose themselves as Armenia's friends while congratulating Azerbaijan on the ethnic cleansing of Artsakh.

“In political terms, this may be normal,” Zakaryan noted. “But we must understand that in a world where nations are sacrificed for others' interests, a country cannot afford a prime minister like Nikol Pashinyan.”

Despite the bleak picture, Zakaryan underlined that the resilience and determination of the people of Artsakh remain a source of hope. "They know that they will return to their historic homeland one day," he added.
