Zurabyan urges Ter-Petrosyan to let him challenge Pashinyan

Levon Zurabyan, coordinator of the Armenian National Congress (ANC), has publicly appealed to ANC chairman and former President Levon Ter-Petrosyan in light of Ter-Petrosyan’s recent criticism of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

In a statement on Tuesday, Zurabyan acknowledged that the criticism was justified but warned that it could further destabilize Pashinyan, whom he described as a leader prone to “hysterical fits” and erratic behavior that threatens Armenia’s security.

He stressed that instead of addressing crucial issues, such as the rejection of the 2019 OSCE Minsk Group peace plan or the decisions leading to the 2020 Artsakh war, Pashinyan resorts to fabrications, false accusations and rhetorical diversions.

“Given that even the mere prospect of debating with you could deeply unsettle the prime minister’s fragile mental state and create serious risks for Armenia, I ask you to authorize me to engage with Pashinyan on your behalf,” Zurabyan said. “I promise it will have a therapeutic effect.”
