Dilijan Days: 9th Armenian Contemporary Music Festival kicks off on Friday
The 9th Armenian Contemporary Music Festival, titled Dilijan Days, will take place at the Ludwig van Beethoven Concert Hall of the Edward Mirzoyan Composers’ House in Dilijan on September 26-28. Organized by the Composers’ Union of Armenia, the concerts begin at 6 p.m. with free admission.
Under the direction of Honored Artist of Armenia Ruben Asatryan, performances will feature the Gyumri State Symphony Orchestra, Vanadzor Chamber Orchestra and the Dilijan State College Choir, alongside soloists Vache Hoveyan (viola), Anahit Dilbaryan (piano), Ani Rubenyan (shvi), Nune Danielyan (qanun), Lida Baghramyan (flute), Maria Khandanyan (soprano) and Eduard Makaryan (saxophone), the Armenian culture ministry reported.
The program will honor the anniversaries of renowned Armenian composers Alexander Arutiunian, Alexander Adjemian, Ghazaros Saryan, Gevorg Armenian, Edgar Hovhannisyan, Khachatur Martirosyan, Armenuhi Karapetyan and Vard Manukyan, alongside works by contemporary composers including Aram Satyan, David Halajyan, Narine Zarifyan, Haykuhi Hakobyan, Jirayr Shahrimanyan, Khachatur Martirosyan, Karen Ananyan and Edmond Makaryan.
On September 27, leading Armenian composers will also hold a masterclass-lecture for students of Dilijan’s art and music schools at the Composers’ House. Advance registration is required via [email protected].
