ANC rules out alliance with former presidents' teams

The Armenian National Congress (ANC) has no intention of forming an alliance or joint political movement with the political forces led by former Presidents Robert Kocharyan or Serzh Sargsyan, ANC Deputy Chairman Levon Zurabyan announced on Friday.

Speaking at parliamentary hearings on an opposition-drafted statement calling for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s impeachment, Zurabyan highlighted that Pashinyan’s 7.5 years in office have been marked by “disastrous consequences for the Armenian people”.

He argued that while the government had recorded many failures in domestic governance, Pashinyan’s “main failure, his crime before the people, was the destruction of Armenia’s security system”.

“During his 7.5 years in office, Armenia experienced ten armed clashes with Azerbaijan, resulting in 5,000 casualties. Artsakh shared the fate of Bitlis, Van and Kars,” the politician stressed.
