Former Armenian governor agrees to pay 608 million drams to state budget

Former Tavush Governor Hovik Abovyan has agreed to pay 608 million drams (about $1.5 million) to the Republic of Armenia under asset forfeiture proceedings, the Prosecutor General’s Office announced on Saturday.

The case was resolved through a settlement reached on February 15, 2024, between Abovyan, his close associates and the Prosecutor General’s Office. The settlement, later approved by the court, followed a January 22 application in which Abovyan and his associates offered to transfer assets to the state in order to conclude the investigation.

As of September 26, the full sum had been transferred to the state budget.
