One dead in Munich explosion

A street in Munich has been placed under lockdown after a man reportedly set fire to his parents home using explosives, with one person killed in the blast, The Mirror reported.

Emergency services raced to the scene at around 4:40am to find flames tearing through a residential building in Lerchenau, northern Munich, where "loud banging noises" were also heard.

An injured person was found at the property "who might be connected to the incident", Munich Police said. The street has since been sealed off and residents have been urged to avoid the area or take a detour.

Officers have also shut down a nearby school primary and middle school while they continue their investigation.
