Aliyev’s 'Zangezur corridor’ narrative cannot pertain to Armenian territory, PM's office reiterates

The narrative of the so-called “Zangezur corridor” used by Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev does not and cannot pertain to the territory of Armenia, the Prime Minister’s Office has reiterated.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during his October 2 meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the sidelines of the European Political Community Summit in Copenhagen, discussed the problem of the term’s usage, his spokesperson, Nazeli Baghdasaryan, told Armenpress on Tuesday.

"Following the meeting between the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Azerbaijan held in Copenhagen, both sides issued press releases, from which it is clear that both sides acknowledge that the TRIPP [Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity] project pertains to the territory of Armenia; therefore, there is no other project on the territory of the Republic of Armenia, nor can there be," she said.

"That issue was indeed discussed during the Copenhagen meeting, and we reiterate that the narrative presented by the President of Azerbaijan cannot in any way pertain to the territory of the Republic of Armenia. Only the TRIPP and Crossroads of Peace projects are being implemented within the Republic of Armenia, as clearly stipulated in a number of international documents," Baghdasaryan added.
