Economist: Automated income declarations cannot ensure complete citizen data

Economist Suren Parsyan has criticized the government’s handling of the income declaration process, arguing that automated submissions cannot provide comprehensive information necessary for effective social and economic policymaking.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Parsyan emphasized that the income declaration system is a crucial tool for developing and implementing targeted socio-economic policies. However, he said the current authorities have “once again failed and discredited” the initiative due to what he described as poor governance and election-driven motives.

“Automated reporting cannot ensure complete information about Armenian citizens, which is essential for targeted and efficient socio-economic policies,” Parsyan wrote. He added that government agencies and officials must take political responsibility for inadequate public awareness and the overall failure of the process.
