Yerevan to mark 2807th anniversary with costly balloon festival

Yerevan will mark its 2807th anniversary on October 10 with the launch of the Discover Armenia from the Sky International Balloon Festival, starting from the Erebuni Historical and Archaeological Museum Reserve site. The event is organized by SkyBall in collaboration with the Yerevan Municipality and supported by the Tourism Committee of Armenia’s Ministry of Economy.

The Municipality has invited residents and guests to book flights in advance. Each hot air balloon can carry up to 12 passengers, with seating arrangements depending on weather conditions and passenger weights.

However, the experience won’t come cheap: a one-hour flight costs 90,000 drams (about $225) per person. Passengers weighing over 100 kg must pay an extra 40,000 drams, while children under 12 receive a 50% discount. Festival tickets are non-refundable.
