Armenia working with U.S. to unblock regional communications, deputy FM says

Armenia is actively cooperating with its U.S. partners to advance efforts toward unblocking regional communications, Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan says.

Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, Kostanyan reaffirmed Armenia’s readiness to sign and ratify a peace treaty with Azerbaijan, emphasizing that the region now has a genuine opportunity to achieve lasting peace and stability.

“We’ve been given the opportunity to unblock all communications in the region and we’re working on it with our U.S. partners,” Kostanyan said. “Discussions are underway and the public will be informed once concrete progress is made.”

When asked about guarantees for the implementation of the Washington agreements, Kostanyan noted: “I cannot provide guarantees on behalf of Azerbaijan, but the statements made, including at the White House, indicate that we are entering a period of stability and peace.”

The deputy minister also underscored that there is no project called the “Zangezur Corridor” on Armenia's sovereign territory.

“How the Azerbaijani leaders choose to name projects within their own borders is up to them,” he added.
