MP blasts detention of fallen Armenian soldiers' parents

Armenian opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan highlights that five years after the 2020 war with Azerbaijan, none of the political leaders responsible for Armenia's war defeat and heavy casualties have faced imprisonment, while parents of soldiers killed in the war remain behind bars.

“Five years have passed since the 44-day war and not a single official has been jailed,” Abrahamyan, a member of the opposition Pativ Unem faction, wrote on Facebook on Saturday.

“Instead, those in detention are the parents and relatives of fallen soldiers whose struggle has been to uncover the truth about the war and clarify the fate of their sons,” he said.

Abrahamyan cited several cases, including that of Arsen Ghukasyan, who has serious health problems but remains in prison. He added that two others, Garik Galeyan and Ara Rostomyan, are under house arrest.

“This is the true face of the current authorities,” the MP wrote.
