Օpposition MP criticizes Armenian government over delayed military uniform reform

Opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan has criticized the Armenian government for a prolonged delay in finalizing a new design for the country’s military uniforms five years after the 2020 Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) war.

In a social media post on Wednesday, Abrahamyan, a member of the Pativ Unem faction, recalled that the authorities announced plans to change the army uniforms shortly after the 44-day war with Azerbaijan.

The MP cited a recent statement that Defense Minister Suren Papikyan had discussed the matter with a specialized company during his visit to the United States.

"Five years on, the current authorities, who are all talk when it comes to peace and military reform, are still deliberating over the quality, design and color of the uniform,” he wrote.

Abrahamyan added that the delay reflected what he called the “misery and distorted face” of the current administration.
