Gyumri mayor removed from City Hall, being transferred to Yerevan

Armenian law enforcement officers have escorted Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan out of the City Hall and are transferring him to the Anti-Corruption Committee in Yerevan for questioning.

Ghukasyan was led out through the rear entrance of the municipality building before being hurried into a waiting vehicle.

Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Committee said that eight Gyumri officials, including its mayor and chief architect, had been arrested on corruption charges.
