NSS officers raid Gyumri City Hall

Masked officers from Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) began a search at the Gyumri City Hall on Monday morning.

Lawyer Zaruhi Postanjyan told Panorama.am that local residents had alerted her to the raid, expressing concern that Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan might be detained.

Panorama.am was unable to reach city officials for comment, as phone calls went unanswered. The country’s Anti-Corruption Committee later confirmed that investigative operations were taking place at the municipality as part of an ongoing criminal case. The agency said additional details would be released at a later time.

Earlier this month, the Gyumri mayor claimed he and his family were being harassed and called on his supporters to “stand firm” and defend their rights.
