Avinyan questioned over ANIF case

Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan says he has been questioned as part of a criminal investigation into the now defunct Armenian National Interests Fund (ANIF), adding that he has provided all necessary information.

Speaking to reporters after a cabinet meeting on Thursday, Avinyan said he had disclosed “specific financial figures” during a three-hour press conference, but noted that civil society groups and investigative media had not addressed those details.

“There has been zero reference to the figures I mentioned, although I made concrete statements and raised questions that challenge the entire narrative,” Avinyan said.

He criticized what he described as “unserious” public discourse surrounding the case. “They’re talking about things like my wife’s friend… saying they didn’t meet seven months ago, but a year and three months ago. It’s absurd,” he added.
