Commuters in Yerevan faced major delays on Thursday morning after subway trains stopped running during rush hour, causing overcrowding at stations and on platforms.
According to Yerevan Metro spokesperson Anna Aslanyan, a technical issue with one of the train units halted services for about 15 minutes. “Our staff worked to fix the problem as quickly as possible,” she told Panorama.am, adding that operations have since resumed.
Social media users claimed that the stoppage lasted around 30 minutes. The exact nature of the fault has not yet been disclosed and Aslanyan said she had no further details.
Trains are now running again, but passengers report heavy congestion as service returns to normal.
