Emma Poghosyan wins European junior weightlifting gold

Armenia’s Emma Poghosyan has been crowned European champion in Durres, Albania, securing the country’s fourth gold medal at the European Junior and U23 Weightlifting Championships.

Competing in the 86kg category, Poghosyan lifted 100kg, 103kg and 105kg in the snatch to place third. In the clean and jerk, she successfully lifted 131kg and then 136kg, setting a new European record. Her combined total of 241kg earned her the overall gold medal.

The Armenian team is led by head coach Artashes Nersisyan, assistant coach Taron Tovmasyan and Poghosyan’s personal coach Kristine Petrosyan.
