Armenian court refused to detain ex-economy minister

The Armenian Anti-Corruption Court has rejected a motion to detain former Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan, who faces charges related to alleged corruption dating back to 2008–2014.

In a post on social media on Saturday, Kerobyan said the court had denied detention requests for him and more than a dozen other defendants in the same case. “Naturally, I do not accept the charges,” he wrote.

Investigators claim to have uncovered a corruption scheme involving an organized group during that period. Kerobyan, who served as economy minister until 2024, was arrested as part of the criminal probe on Friday.
