Opposition figure accuses ruling party of misusing administrative resources in Vagharshapat

Opposition Homeland Party member Khachik Galstyan has accused Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party of “squandering public trust” over the past seven years and relying on administrative pressure to maintain power.

Speaking to reporters after concluding his party’s campaign in the Vagharshapat community on Friday, Galstyan said that thousands of voters were calling for a change of power in Armenia.

“We are offering a toolkit. We joined street protests, but they were unsuccessful. Now there is an electoral opportunity,” he said, adding that the opposition hopes to replicate recent victories in Gyumri and Parakar.

Galstyan accused the authorities of “relentless” misuse of administrative resources throughout the election campaign but stressed that the opposition had enough capacity to prevent violations at polling stations. He voiced confidence that the opposition would win the upcoming vote in Vagharshapat.

Eight political forces are running in the Vagharshapat municipal elections, including the Homeland Party, which has nominated writer Khachik Manukyan for mayor.
