Armenian and Azerbaijani parliamentary delegations hold talks in Istanbul

The Armenian and Azerbaijani parliamentary delegations met in Istanbul on Tuesday on the sidelines of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s autumn session, the Armenian National Assembly reported.

The meeting followed an agreement reached between the two countries’ parliament speakers during talks in Geneva on 21 October.

The two delegations highlighted the positive role of the recent Washington summit and discussed steps to advance the agreements reached there, including measures aimed at strengthening peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. They also underlined the importance of parliamentary backing in both countries as the process moves forward.

The delegations exchanged views on confidence-building measures and stressed the role of legislatures in fostering trust. Both sides attached importance to maintaining constructive dialogue between parliamentarians within international organizations.
