Yerevan mayor warns 1,042 unregistered street vending machines face removal

Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan has warned that more than a thousand unregistered street vending machines in the capital will be dismantled unless operators bring them into compliance by the end of the year.

Speaking at a city hall meeting on Monday, the head of the city’s Trade, Services and Advertising Department, Armen Arakelyan, said 3,208 automated devices, including ATMs, payment terminals and coffee machines, have been recorded on the city’s electronic platform. Of these, 2,162 hold valid permits, while 1,042 are operating without authorization.

Avinyan stressed that only registered machines pay the required municipal fee. “Those that are not registered do not pay the fee and are subject to removal,” he said, urging district administrators to negotiate with operators and proceed with dismantling if no agreement is reached.
