Yerevan building collapse triggers gas leak, one injured

A partial building collapse at a former piano factory on Yerevan’s Shirak Street caused a gas leak on Monday, authorities said.

Emergency services were alerted at 10:12 a.m. local time and dispatched firefighting, rescue and canine units to the site. The three-storey structure used as storage, production and office space had partially collapsed, with each floor covering roughly 430 square meters.

Rescuers stopped the gas leak, cordoned off the area and washed down the affected roadway. One person was taken to hospital in the wake of the accident.
