Armenian MPs visit Imprisoned archbishops

Armenian MPs Tigran Abrahamyan and Martun Grigoryan of the opposition Hayastan faction on Tuesday visited the Yerevan-Kentron Penitentiary to meet with imprisoned Archbishops Mikayel Ajapahyan and Bagrat Galstanyan.

In a social media post following the meeting, Abrahamyan emphasized the importance of the archbishops’ principled stance and public statements. He said their voices “are crucial in countering attacks on the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and presenting the truth.”

Abrahamyan also noted that the archbishops' detention is closely linked to the ongoing campaigns against the church, both domestically and internationally.

“Freedom to the archbishops and all other political prisoners,” he wrote.
