ReOpen Media shuts down after six months of operation

ReOpen Media, a broadcasting company and news platform launched by the National Network Foundation, has ceased operations six months after its launch, its director Davit Grigoryan announced.

“We will no longer be on air in this format. ReOpen is now history. We are moving toward a new model to pursue the idea of a Pan-Armenian news agency,” Grigoryan wrote on Facebook on Friday.

In a video summarizing the outlet’s activities, Grigoryan said the project had attracted speculation about hidden backers and political ties, but insisted it was built on “ideological and independent foundations". He said he eventually met a private benefactor after two and a half years of work but declined to identify the individual, describing them only as a like-minded supporter with no political agenda.

Earlier, Panorama.am reported that anyone familiar with ReOpen Media or the National Network Foundation claimed the platform had been funded mainly by Evocabank owner Vazgen Gevorgyan. Evocabank denied any involvement, saying it had “no connection” to ReOpen Media and could not comment on its closure.

According to information obtained by Panorama.am, the reasons for the shutdown of ReOpen Media are politically motivated.
