Artur Vanetsyan: 2026 will be a decisive year for Armenia

Artur Vanetsyan, leader of the Homeland Party and former head of Armenia’s National Security Service, belives that 2026 will be a decisive year for Armenia, its people and the Armenian diaspora.

In an interview on Monday, Vanetsyan said that 2026 would be a difficult and “fateful” year, presenting the country with two starkly different paths.

According to him, Armenia could either emerge as a state that restores its positions, embarks on development and enables its people to live and create with pride, or become a territory inhabited by people called Armenians who, he said, would have lost their faith, identity and traditions.

Addressing his conflict with the current authorities, Vanetsyan stressed that he holds no personal hostility towards any official, describing his disagreements as principled rather than personal. He said these differences are the reason he speaks out publicly.

He also stated that he sees no basis for cooperation with the current government. However, he added that if an existential issue were to arise that required national unity, he would not refuse to join such efforts.
