Fraud victims protest outside Armenia's Investigative Committee

Fraud victims have launched a sit-in outside the Armenian Investigative Committee building, demanding the return of money lost in recent scams. The protest was announced on Friday by lawyer and president of the Public Control NGO, Mher Karagozyan, who is representing the victims.

“We met with Mr. Grigoryan, head of the Cybersecurity Department, and received promises, but no concrete deadlines. We will not leave until clear timeframes are set. The sit-in will continue until the end of the working day and will resume later,” Karagozyan told reporters.

In recent months, many people affected by fraud have staged protests outside law enforcement offices, calling for proper investigations, reimbursement of lost funds and measures to prevent future scams.

The Central Bank told Panorama.am that between 2024 and December 1, 2025, it received around 300 complaints related to bank fraud. The total financial damage varies by case but is estimated at about 0.1% of consumer lending volumes.

Affected banks include Ardshinbank, Inecobank, Artsakhbank, ID Bank and Unibank, although other banks’ customers may also have been impacted.
