Yerevan Conservatory student’s work named among best at Heidelberg New Music Festival
A composition by Yerevan State Conservatory student Deren Bratyan has been selected as one of the standout works at the Heidelberg New Music Festival and Symposium.
Bratyan, a third-year piano student studying under Marine Margaryan, was chosen from more than 600 submissions. His piece, Improvisation for Dreamers, will be performed at the Heidelberg New Music Festival and Symposium, to be held in Tiffin, Ohio, from 26 to 28 March 2026.
The event, organized by the Heidelberg New Music Association, will mark the association’s first biennial festival and will feature five concerts alongside an academic symposium. Selected composers and scholars will attend in person, collaborate with performers, and present their work.
Concerts will feature faculty members, student performers, university ensembles and guest artists. The festival’s principal guest composer will be American composer Stacy Garrop.
