Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee has arrested Vahagn Mirumyan, a former deputy head of the State Revenue Committee (SRC), on suspicion of abuse of office.
The agency told Panorama.am on Wednesday the detention was made as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into a former senior SRC official, adding that no further details could be disclosed at this stage due to the interests of the investigation.
Armlur.am reported that Mirumyan’s detention is linked to a criminal case involving former SRC chairman Vardan Harutyunyan.
Harutyunyan was arrested in August and remanded in custody for one month on August 8 on charges of illegal participation in business activity, anti-competitive practices and money laundering. His detention was extended for another month on October 7, before being replaced with house arrest in November.
