Opposition MP accuses Pashinyan regime of waging 'war' against Armenian people

An Armenian opposition lawmaker has accused Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s government of waging a campaign against its own citizens, rejecting official claims that the country is facing a so-called “hybrid war” from internal or external actors.

Tigran Abrahamyan, secretary of the opposition Pativ Unem faction, said on Thursday the government has failed to clearly identify who it claims is conducting a hybrid war in Armenia and by what means. He described the term as an invented concept used to justify violence, illegality and coercion by the authorities.

“If there is any force in Armenia waging a war within the country against its own people, it is only the Pashinyan regime,” Abrahamyan wrote on Facebook. He added that this was not a hybrid conflict but one conducted according to “classic rules of war.”

Abrahamyan also accused the government of using the alleged threat of a hybrid war to give European institutions a “carte blanche” to exert influence inside Armenia, warning that such involvement could seriously endanger the country’s internal stability and sovereignty.
