Snow hits parts of Armenia

Snowfall has been reported across several regions of Armenia, including Shirak Province and the towns of Aragats, Talin, Hrazdan, Charentsavan, Stepanavan, Spitak, Vanadzor, Ijevan, Berd and Dilijan.

Authorities have closed mountain roads in Aragatsotn Province leading from the high-altitude Amberd meteorological station to the Amberd Fortress and Lake Kari due to hazardous conditions.

Armenia’s Rescue Service has urged drivers to use winter tyres only and to exercise caution on affected roads.

Meanwhile, officials from Georgia’s Emergency Management Department and Russia’s North Ossetia crisis centre say the Stepantsminda–Lars highway remains open to all types of vehicles.
