Armenian State Symphony Orchestra performs in China

The Armenian State Symphony Orchestra is currently touring China, accompanying finalists of the Aram Khachaturian International Competition under the baton of conductor Sergey Smbatyan.

Organized by the Aram Khachaturian Cultural Foundation, this year’s competition is dedicated to the cello and brings together young cellists from around the world. Now in its third year in China, the project has become one of the few Armenian cultural initiatives with a broad international presence, promoting Khachaturian’s musical legacy beyond Armenia through close cooperation with Chinese partners.

The gala concert and awards ceremony will take place on 27 December at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing. In addition, the orchestra will perform separate concerts in three other Chinese cities.

Competition rounds, along with a concert scheduled for 1 January, are being broadcast by Chinese television networks and classical music platforms, reaching large audiences both in China and online.
