Armenia targets $3.8 billion tourism revenue by 2030, minister says

Armenia aims to generate around $3.8 billion in tourism revenue by 2030 under a new strategic plan covering 2026-2030, Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan said on Thursday.

The strategy focuses on developing three main sectors: cultural, gastronomic, and adventure tourism, while also promoting agro-tourism, MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions), religious, medical, and spa tourism.

The plan sets four key objectives: maximize the economic potential of the tourism industry, enhance Armenia’s international appeal as a safe and welcoming destination, ensure high-quality and unique visitor experiences, and expand the tourism workforce through improved education and services.

By 2030, authorities aim to attract at least 3 million inbound visitors, achieve 4.5 million domestic visits, generate $750 million in government revenue, and create 20,000 additional jobs in the sector.

Papoyan said the strategy is designed to position Armenia as a “tourism hub” and diversify its market within five years.
